The SV650 has been around since 1999, with occasional periodic updates. To some people, that's a problem to complain about. Other buyers are happy to pick up a well-sorted machine with a low MSRP. Aluminum frame, ABS, EFI, a decent weight—this bike has lots to offer, even if it has been around a while. You'll have to go elsewhere if you want leaning ABS or other newfangled electronic trickery, though.
