The big-bore GS, the classic do-everything adventure bike. While other manufacturers may emphasize adrenaline-pumping thrills a bit more, BMW has long built excellent all-around adventure bikes, comfortable all-day mounts. Now that this machine is updated with the new Shiftcam engine (more power, less emissions), it's taken a big step forward, and it's sure to carry the tradition of solid Beemer adventure touring machines onwards. This machine is more street-oriented than the more expensive Adventure version, as it has cast rims (19-inch hoop in front, 17-incher in rear), and comes without crash bars as standard. You can buy plenty of parts to upgrade it, though, if you really feel like bashing through the woods. BMW has a full accessories catalogue, and the aftermarket will also have plenty to offer for this bike.
