Do The GNAR: Great New Brunswick Adventure Rally Is Back

Once upon a time, when much-loved and much-missed Editor ‘Arris ran Canada Moto Guide, we also ran a company called Canada Moto Rallies that put on a little event called the Fundy Adventure Rally (aka the FAR). The FAR has been gone for a while now, but don’t worry: Its replacement, the GNAR, is back for 2025, and you can once again ride the trails that Editor ‘Arris scouted.

The Fundy Adventure Rally ran out of Adair’s Wilderness Lodge near Sussex, New Brunswick for its entire duration. Unfortunately, the FAR came to an end when Eric and Teri Russell (formerly of A Vicious Cycle/Twisted Throttle Canada) had to focus on their new business in Ontario, which left no time for working on the rally an 1,800-km drive away in New Brunswick. Bummer.

But the attendees at FAR knew what they were missing, and in the days as COVID-19 restrictions went away, they re-congregated at Adair’s to first run the Fundy Adventure Rally Reunion, which then turned into the GNAR. And now, the GNAR is back for 2025, scheduled for early September.

You can see what to expect above!

This year’s event will run September 5-7 at Adair’s, although many of the attendees will show up a few days early or stay a day or two late. That’s the fun of the GNAR; unlike most rallies, which are hyper-organized, there’s almost zero organization at the GNAR at all. Want GPS tracks? Ask nicely, and another attendee will share. Want a campsite? Call and book it yourself, or book a motel room or cabin (make sure you hurry up, they sell out fast—contact Adair’s here). Want to eat on-site? Bring your own grub from the nearby town of Sussex, or order something from Adair’s restaurant; they bring in extra staff for the rally weekend, and always have a good scoff on.

This means there is no fee to attend the rally; all you pay for is camping/accommodations, and anything you buy at the restaurant. This event really is what you make of it.
