Sport touring motorcycles appear to be a dying breed, but wait—Honda hasn’t given up on this sector yet! Big Red has just confirmed the NT1100 for Canadian customers. Here’s what we can expect:
The Honda NT1100 actually launched in Europe back in late 2020, and has already undergone a generational update since its four-years-ago EICMA intro. The engine has already been sold in Canada for about a decade, sort of; it’s based on the same parallel twin 1100 that powers Honda’s Africa Twin, with a SOHC eight-valve head and 1084cc capacity. Max output is 101 hp at 7,500 rpm, or 77 lb-ft at 6,000 rpm. An auto-shifting DCT gearbox is available, but a six-speed is standard equipment. Both gearboxes are going to be available in Canada, with DCT adding $1,000 to the base model’s $17,599 price.
Of course there are a bunch of electro-features built-in. Honda’s PR says “Safety features include three default riding modes (Tour, Sport, Rain), plus two customizable USER modes and three-level Honda Selectable Torque and Wheelie Control.”
The NT1100 is built for grown-up riders who want to tour, like the Africa Twin, but it’s for the street only, with 17-inch wheels front and rear.
The NT has a big, adjustable windshield with wind deflectors, a 32.3-inch seat height, an upright riding position and a 6.5-inch TFT touchscreen that integrates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto via Bluetooth. Because the screen is pressure-sensitive, it can be operated while the rider has their gloves on.
The NT is no lightweight, at 238 kg curb weight, or 248 kg for the DCT model. Fully gassed-up, the bike will carry 24.5 liters of fuel, more than sufficient for almost all touring purposes. Honda says it will be available in Canada in spring of 2025, but only in one color this year—Pearl Hawkseye Blue.
Too expensive for me, for a chain-drive parallel twin. Is the windshield power adjustable? For that kind of price for this sort of bike I’d expect hard bags to be included.
Might want to cross reference the fuel capacity with what Honda Canada says on their website. They list it as 20.4L
Nice. Finally here.
Just bought a Transalp, so might be a stretch convince the wife in trading off the 1250fa Suzuki for one of these babies 🙁
