KTM Plans New Big-Bore 1390 ADV And Small-Bore 390 ADV This Fall

KTM has plans for a whooooooole bunch of new bikes on this year’s show circuit, including a handful of new adventure motorcycles.

The big news is probably the KTM 1390 Adventure S EVO, which KTM says will come with “ground-breaking and unmissable new hardware.” Considering that KTM also plans to announce its new automatic gearbox (which debuted in a prototype bike at the Erzbergrodeo earlier this year) in the next few weeks—we’d guess that the EVO will show this tech.

Bosch also recently announced a new electro-safety system that includes not just adaptive cruise control, but also an emergency braking system that applies the binders if it detects an imminent crash, along with other autonomous riding tech. This is supposed to debut on KTM machines as well, so expect it on the EVO.

There’s also a KTM 1390 Adventure R incoming; expect this to be a more trimmed-down version of the same bike, with offroad suspension and wheels and less emphasis on electronic wizardry.

KTM says there’s a new 390 Adventure R coming too; we’ve heard rumors of this elsewhere and even seen some spy photos. This bike appears to be a bit more offroad-capable machine than the first-gen 390 Adventure models, in keeping with current trends towards more rally-style machines.

There’s a KTM 990 Duke R coming as well, based on an updated version of the 890 engine and latest-gen electronics. As far as street bikes go, there’s a 390 SMC coming too, which should be a sort of supermoto take on the 390 Adventure. Huzzah!

As far as dirt bikes go, KTM already launched most of its offroad machines this year but will show a new SX-E 5 minicycle and FREERIDE E at EICMA, since everyone says the future is electric!

And this is just the stuff they’re telling us about…
