Some good news for all us frost-bitten moto enthusiats: The MMIC’s mid-winter motorcycle show circuit will return again for 2025.
The news came out via press release from Moto Canada (which is what the MMIC is calling itself now, but it’s still the same industry insiders). The shows appear to follow roughly the same format and timing as 2024’s events. As per their PR:
The shows will once again go from west to east in January and February:
• Vancouver: January 17-19 at the Abbotsford Tradex
• Calgary: January 31-February 2 at BMO Centre at Stampede Park
• Toronto: February 14-16 at Enercare Centre at Exhibition Place
• Montreal: February 28-March 2 at Palais de Congrès
So, two weeks between the shows, and only four events—Quebec City isn’t back on the schedule, and Edmonton is also gone.
Landon French, big boss at Moto Canada, said “After an incredible run of shows in 2024, we can’t wait to get back on the road in 2025. We made great strides last year and we’re so excited to show our crowds their favourite rides along with some exciting new attractions.”
What are those new attractions? The PR says the shows will “promote the groups, clubs and
organizations that make riding in Canada what it is, celebrate women who ride, promote safety on our roads, spotlight innovation in the industry, showcase adventure riding, highlight the industry’s economic impact and so much more.” They go on to tell us that She Rides Night comes back, the adventure bike-focused ExPLR Zone returns, and riding academies for adults and kids—and more announcements will come.
So, stay tuned. The MMIC shows have scaled down the past few years, but there’s still plenty of interest in these events in Canada, unlike their equivalents in the US, where the IMS show circuit was canceled post-COVID. A little bit of innovation and excitement would go a long way to bringing the Canadian shows back to their own pre-COVID levels.
I notice that the Edmonton show is missing.
The 2024 show in Edmonton was a bust. Very small, crowded venue. Several manufacturers missing. Was disappointing. . .
