The 2022 Backroad Ball is canceled

The Backroad Ball, Atlantic Canada’s no-boys-allowed motorcycle rally, is canceled again. Of course, COVID-19 is the culprit once again.

Here’s the post the Ball organizers ran on their Facebook page, explaining the situation:

Backroad babes, this news is not easy for us to break to you, but we’ve had to make a hard decision and now it’s time to share it.

While most Canadian provinces are opening up and lifting restrictions, COVID isn’t over just yet. The virus has affected many members of our community, including the BRB organizing team. Extended illness within the team has set us back, and made us more aware than ever of our responsibility to keep each other safe.

With that being said, we have made the difficult decision to postpone #BRB5 for one more year. With the work it takes to put this event on, we need to be healthy and focused to make it the best it can be

Tickets already purchased will automatically be transferred over to the 2023 event. No action required on your part. If you’d prefer a refund, send an email to thebackroadball@gmail.com.

We can’t wait to see you all for the Backroad Ball on July 7 – 9, 2023!

This year’s Backroad Ball was originally slated to run July 1-3 in Salisbury, New Brunswick. The 2020 and 2021 events were already canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, and no doubt hopeful attendees will be bummed out that the 2022 party is also on the rocks. With four very successful rallies in the past, the organizers have plenty of history to build on, though. Let’s hope it’s back to business as usual in 2023! Keep an eye on the event’s website and Facebook page for more details as they emerge.

Otherwise, if you can’t go to the Backroad Ball, at least the Wharf Rat Rally is scheduled for end of summer in Digby, and it looks like we’ll see the usual Friday the 13th parties in Port Dover again this year …
