The Toronto Motorcycle Supershow, aka “The Big One,” is postponed, with its planned January dates canceled.
The announcement was posted on the Supershow’s Facebook page mid-day December 20, saying the traditional start-of-winter show at the International Centre would not be running in early January as planned.
Here’s the official line:
“The Jan 7-9, 2022 dates have been cancelled, and the 46th Annual North American International Motorcycle SUPERSHOW will be postponed to a later date.
Unfortunately, due to the rising cases of the Omicron variant, and increasing restrictions being implemented at this time, we will not continue-on with the January dates. This was a difficult decision to make, with the Show just under three weeks away, but given the rapid rise in Covid numbers in Ontario and elsewhere, it’s reasonable to assume that additional restrictions could be implemented leading up to the Show, adding even more uncertainty to a rapidly changing situation.
In light of this, we feel the best interests of our exhibitors and guests would not be served if we were to go ahead with the Show in January, as the well-being and safety of our exhibitors, staff, volunteers and the motorcycle community is our top priority.

It’s a bummer, but no surprise. The last time we had a proper motorcycle show in Toronto was the 2020 mid-winter MMIC show (the smaller industry show). The Springshow was canceled for 2020, then 2021. Now we see the Supershow postponed once again due to COVID-19, leaving us wondering if we’ll also get a similar announcement regarding the MMIC’s show in February.
If that happens, it will be a massive disappointment, as many Canadians look forward to these shows as a mid-winter moto fix. They fill a different role than the American IMS show circuit, which ran outdoors in 2021 as a sort of fairground event. When the weather is good in Canada, motorcyclists want to be actually riding, not going to shows, and obviously outdoor shows would be a bad idea in our winters here.
But, there’s still hope for this off-season, as the Supershow organizers come up with a new plan; remember, it’s not canceled, just delayed for now, and the MMIC show is not canceled yet.
