Now, young riders can sign up for the North America Talent Cup

If you’re a young Canadian racer, and you want to enter MotoGP, you can now start down that road much more easily. As of December 1, MotoGP is now taking applications to the North America Talent Cup.

What’s the North America Talent Cup?

Back in November, we told you about a new feeder series for North American racers that starts in 2022. The North America Talent Cup will see riders on Aprilia RS250Rs facing off across American tracks in an FIM/MotoAmerica-sanctioned series:

The new North America Talent Cup will partner with MotoAmerica and aims to provide riders across the continent with a vital link on the Road to MotoGP™, creating the stepping-stone between the FIM MiniGP North America Series and the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup or FIM Moto3™ Junior World Championship,” says the initial press release.

So, if you want to get a spot on a European race team, this is a good place to start, if you’re in North America, including Canadian riders.

Now, the application period is open. MotoGP says application acceptance started at the beginning of December, and will run until the end of the month. See MotoGP’s blurb below, from the website announcement:

There will be a maximum of 20 full year entries admitted for the Cup’s first season, and these permanent riders will be announced on the 10th of January 2022. Riders must have been born between January the 1st 2006 and February the 28th 2009. Riders from all nationalities can apply but the NATC is designed to discover and foster talent from the USA and Canada.
