BMW’s 2022 Motorrad Rider Equipment debuts

Over in the EU, BMW has introduced its 2022 Motorrad Rider Equipment lineup, which means we should see it here in Canada soon. While it’s not cheap stuff, BMW’s gear is usually high-quality kit, and while the brand historically has a reputation of being the domain of bearded oldsters, that’s changing. The equipment lineup shows that.

For instance, look at the jackets below—they’re women’s sizes, and the red leather jacket is a contemporary urban cut, not a stodgy, baggy fit for touring enthusiasts with a raging case of dad bod.

There’s also new women’s sizes in the adventure category, for suits that were previously men-only.

The lineup gets a dose of retro-style offerings, which makes sense, since BMW is now in the business of selling bikes like the R18 and R NineT series.

Buyers also have options for more contemporary stuff, like the boots below, which would look at home on an S1000R naked bike.

You can also get serious stuff like full roadracing leathers, or a new three-layer enduro-style riding suit … or casual wear like hoodies.

At this point, we’ve only seen European catalogues for the new equipment (Update: We’ve just seen the new Canadian catalogue come through!), but if you swing by a BMW dealer in the next few weeks, we’d expect them to have the new Canadian-market catalogues, complete with pricing. We’ve actually seen some dealerships posting unboxing videos for new gear, so your local Motorrad shop might actually have some of the 2022 kit in stock for you to try on.
