Here’s the 2022 CSBK schedule!

The bigwigs at Canadian Superbike have announced their plans for 2022, with a four-weekend schedule for next summer.

This time, the season will kick off at Grand Bend Motorplex, over the June 9-12 weekend. The racing moves on to Calabogie for the July 9-10 weekend, and then a doubleheader Shubenacadie’s Atlantic Motorsport Park on July 21-24. Hopefully this actually happens, as it’s been canceled the last two summers.

Then, the season will wrap up at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (aka Mosport, in Bowmanville) on August 12-14. This race weekend will be a tripleheader, making for a seven-race Pro Superbike series in total, as long as nothing is canceled.

Once again, CSBK will cooperate with Pro 6 GP’s regional series as well, with the July 9-10 weekend at Calabogie also functioning as a Pro 6 race weekend. More details (and the Pro 6 schedule) in the press release below:

CSBK confirm 2022 schedule

Toronto, ON –  The Canadian National Superbike Championship will hold four events at four different venues in 2022, as the CSBK series gradually returns to their pre-COVID structure.  

Negotiations are well underway for key event coverage to once again premier on The Sports Network, TSN.  CSBK’s relationship with TSN began in 1994.  

Next year’s National tour will kick off with a return to Grand Bend Motorplex on Ontario’s “west coast.” CSBK will use the same 2.25 kilometer, Technical version of the multi-layout circuit that has provided great National action in the past.  At the most recent CSBK round at Grand Bend in June of 2019, eventual National Champ Ben Young of Collingwood, ON, scored the win for the Van Dolder’s Home Team BMW Motorrad squad.

Round two takes place at Calabogie Motorsports Park southwest of Ottawa, ON, the home of the CSBK tour during the period of COVID restrictions in 2020 and 2021.  All four of the 2021 Pro Superbike National Feature races conducted at the 20 turn, 5-kilometer layout went to CSBK rookie and eventual overall National Champion Alex Dumas of Quebec City, QC, aboard the Liqui Moly/FAST Riding School Suzuki GSX-R1000.

The National circuit returns to Atlantic Motorsport Park on Canada’s east coast in Nova Scotia in late July, the famed Shubenacadie “roller coaster” layout the longest serving venue on the National circuit.  

Local major powersport dealer Pro Cycle (Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki and KTM) is the long-time supporter of this destination round, working with the Society of the Atlantic Racing League.

During a busy double header weekend in July of 2019 at A.M.P., Young charged from dead last during Saturday’s race, making a final corner pass to nab the win in beautiful conditions.  The next day’s wet Feature saw reigning Champ Jordan Szoke of Lynden, ON, hold off Young to earn a popular win for the Canada General Warranty Kawasaki mounted 14-time number one plate holder.

The 2022 tour winds up at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in August, the famed “old Mosport” track back in its series-deciding, season show down schedule position.  Last season at C.T.M.P., Young won the opener and Szoke was victorious in the following two races.  For the second year in a row, C.T.M.P. will host a unique three Feature race format, one on Saturday and the two Sunday likely deciding the overall Championship.

Plans are advanced for TSN to once again host video coverage of the CSBK tour.  There were 11 episodes of CSBK on TSN last season.  The 2021 TSN coverage was sponsored by Yuasa Battery, Mopar, The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and Joe Rocket.

2022 will mark the nineth year of spec tire support for every National class in CSBK by Dunlop, with at-track service once again provided by Pro6 Cycle. 

CSBK organizers Professional Motorsports Productions Inc (PMP) of Toronto, ON, are also pleased to confirm dates for the second season of the Pro 6 GP race series at Calabogie.  Last year’s Pro 6 GP overall Champ was Royal Distributing BMW mounted veteran Michael Leon of Beaconsfield, QC.
