The coronavirus continues to interfere with moto-fun. The Backroad Ball recently announced its plans to cancel the 2021 event, with plans to return for 2022—possibly at a new location.

Based in rural New Brunswick, the no-boys-allowed Backroad Ball is one of the fastest-growing grassroots rallies in Canada now. Or, it was, before COVID-19 came along, cancelling the 2020 event and now the 2021 event.

A post on the Ball’s Facebook page said that inconsistent vaccination rates and rise in coronavirus pandemic variants meant the organizers wanted to wait until it was “110% safe” to bring the rally back. With 2021 proving to be a mess so far, they couldn’t guarantee it would be safe to run the rally this summer. So, the plan is to return next year.

We are working with our partners and sponsors on a proper #BRB5 to be held in 2022,” said the Facebook post. “We will post a poll to see when YOU think our biggest and best bash to date should be held! Keep an eye out for that.”

So, maybe there will be a new location for 2022? Sounds like fun. Find more details at the Backroad Ball’s webpage here.
