If you’re expecting to pull some hot laps around Shannonville this spring, it looks like you’ll have to wait. The owners say they’re delaying opening the track for 2021, thanks to government’s COVID-19 restrictions.
“Due to the ongoing and developing COVID-19 situation in Ontario, we regret to announce that the start of the Shannonville Motorsports Park season has been placed on pause while we await further communications from the government amidst the current lockdown,” says an announcement on the Shannonville website.
That means both car and motorcycle events being canceled, including bike lapping sessions on May 7 and 14. Presumably the racing school on May 7 is also canceled. The site does say the May 7 lapping will be re-scheduled.
What this means for the track’s long-term 2021 plans, is not clear yet. If you were looking to ride at Shannonville this summer at a track day, a school, or a race, your best bet is to keep an eye on the facility’s website for future announcements. As for us, we’ll let you know if we hear anything.
