Looking for a new bike for 2021? Perennial Canadian Superbike champion Jordan Szoke has a listing that might be just what you’re looking for … at least, if you’re looking to racing.
Szoke is selling off three bikes, including his 2020 Kawasaki ZX-10R that went undefeated in the four-race CSBK season. He wants $30,000 for this bike, which seems pretty low for a machine that’s won a national superbike championship after an exhaustive list of upgrades.Â
Szoke is asking $36,000 for his 2018 BMW S1000RR. This is another championship-winning machine with its own exhaustive list of upgrades, and would no doubt be still competitive today in the right hands. It’s got a completely rebuilt motor waiting for its new owner. The price tag might sound high, but factoring in labour, cost of the bike and cost of parts, Szoke figures there’s $68,000 into the machine. The add-on parts alone are valued at $39,000.
Finally, there’s Szoke’s 2010 Honda CBR1000RR, which he also raced an undefeated season on. Fast Company prepared this machine, which still holds the fastest outright lap record at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Mosport). This machine was put together with parts from Neil Hodgson and Miguel Duhamel, and comes with a few thousand dollars’ worth of spare bits.
These bikes are all proven series-winners, owned by the winningest rider in Canadian Superbike history. They’re all loaded with suspension, engine and electrical upgrades, and put together by top builders. So why sell? Szoke’s had a tough time since COVID-19 hit, losing his team’s title sponsor before the 2020 championship. He’s talked about retirement for the past couple of years, but don’t figure that this bike sale means he’s calling it quits. If anything, it might mean he’s coming back for more action next season.
