Recall #: 2020-571
Models Involved: 2016-2020 Yamaha FJR1300
Number of Vehicles: 976
Issue: On certain motorcycles, the second gear in the transmission could break. If this happens, the transmission could jam and cause a sudden lock up of the rear wheel.
Safety Risk: A rear wheel that locks suddenly could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions: Yamaha will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to replace the transmission assembly with one that has an updated design and reprogram the electronic control unit (ECU).
Recall letter says its a 14 hrs job, thats a major engine repair i belive .
Engine says Made in Japan , I’m not sure how reliable its going to be after put together some dealership and if I ever going to have my confidence on the bike, especialy when there’s the engine involved.
A bike with 2000 km in it, now going to have a semi rebuild engine. So far non of the other brands had a recall like this.
Not sure what to do get it fixed or sell it after
it has nothing to do with the engine just the trans your bike will be as good as new
what do I have to do to determine if my 2016 is included in this recall?
apparently, some might not be?
Contact yer local dealer, I’d say
Por favor, pueden indicar los VIN afectados. Muchas gracias.
My 2016 ES is apparently not included in this recall.
Rechecked my VIN – and yes my bike now shows as being included in the M071 (Transmission modification) and M073 (Brake switch replacement) recalls.
I guess going from the 5 speed to a 6 speed in the same engine cases didn’t work.
