Canadian Superbike releases first schedule for first races on TSN this fall

No fans had the opportunity to watch Canadian Superbike races in person this summer, but now that fall is here, the two race weekends are going to be running on TSN.

Some of this summer’s racing was already uploaded to YouTube, but CSBK seems to have taken it down now. If you want to watch this year’s racing, TSN is the way to do so, for now. There’s no final word on whether it’ll just be the Pro Superbike series on TSN, or whether we’ll see a bit of Pro Sport Bike and other classes too—but judging from the press release and past history, we’d expect minimal coverage outside the premier class.

CSBK will have the Calabogie round on TSN on October 13-16 (Race 1) and then October 20-23 (Race 2). We’ll see dates released for the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park race coverage soon, says CSBK.

The details for the broadcast schedule of further episodes staged at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park near Bowmanville, ON, in August will be announced shortly.

These two Calabogie races mark the delayed start of the 40th annual National Superbike season in Canada.

The Covid19 pandemic halted the planned 2020 program, and until July it was not clear that any CSBK events could take place this season, with or without spectators. Eventually an agreement with Track Day and motorcycle Racing School Provider Pro 6 Cycle of Toronto, ON, allowed CSBK organizers Professional Motorsports Productions to stage an abbreviated season, focused on the premier category.

National, Regional and Municipal guidelines ensured that spectator attendance was not permitted during any 2020 CSBK National events.

The two Superbike Feature races, presented by I.B.E.W. and sponsored by Williams Paving, marked the first full-schedule CSBK event at Calabogie since 2015.  The Calabogie venue is a competitor favourite, the undulating 5.05-kilometer-long (3.14 miles) has twenty turns in a wide range of configurations and offering the longest lap time in the 40-year history of the CSBK Series.

Canada General Warranty Kawasaki’s Jordan Szoke of Lynden, ON, the 13-time Canadian Superbike Champ, was the pre-season favourite heading into the abbreviated four race 2020 tour.  Joining Szoke at the front of the field at Calabogie were the BMW’s of Michael Leon, Jeff Williams, and rookie Pro Samuel Guerin, as well as Suzuki’s Trevor Daley and the 2019 Team of the Year Turcotte Performance Kawasaki piloted by Sebastien Tremblay.

  1. I was told by the track owners that Covid prevented any filming at Shannonville for the last round. I was told it would be discussed at the riders meeting but that never happened.
