Just for kids: Here’s the Indian e-FTR Jr.

Indian Motorcycles continues to expand its lineup, and now, it’s entered an all-new market segment: motorcycles for kids.

Indian’s new e-FTR Jr. is an all-electric minibike aimed at kids age 8 and older, designed to get them hooked on the moto-life at a young age. Specifically, it’s designed to look like a youth’s version of the FTR flat track racer, complete with faux exhaust pipes. Sigh.

The e-FTR Jr. has a 36-volt rechargeable battery that’s designed to run for 140 minutes in low-power mode (limited to 16 km/h), or 65 minutes in high-power mode (24 km/h). Indian’s press release doesn’t mention recharge times. The throttle is a twist-and-go affair, no shifting needed.

There’s a disc brake front and rear, seat height is 596 millimeters, and the bike weighs 79 kilograms.

The e-FTR Jr. is designed in conjunction with Razor USA; this is really Razor’s tech, not Indian’s. Pricing is $999.99 CAD. Of course, Indian is also going to offer a line of kid-sized riding gear. More details should be available soon on Indian’s Canadian website.
