The up-spec’d Husqvarna 701 Enduro LR dual sport is coming to Canada, and it should be here soon. Husky says the machine will be available at Canadian dealerships this fall.
The 701 Enduro LR (introduced last November) is basically the same as the standard 701 Enduro (a hot-rod single-cylinder street-and-trail bike, based on the KTM 690 Enduro R). The big difference is added fuel capacity; the original 701 line had pretty limited range, thanks to a small gas tank. The LR (it stands for “Long Range” machines are built to travel a bit further, making them more attractive bikes for the adventure riding set. Standard fuel capacity on the 701 is 13 litres, and the LR version boosts that to 25 litres.Â
The 701 isn’t a cheap bike; the standard 701 Enduro sells for more than $13k, and taxes/fees drive that even higher. Expect to pay more for the LR version, although we’re not sure how much. The Husqvarna press release and the Canadian website don’t have that information yet. Expect it to be around $14,000 when it arrives, most likely. Full press release follows below.

Fitted with cornering ABS, lean angle sensitive Traction Control, switchable Ride Modes and Easy Shift as standard, the 701 Enduro LR is capable of serious adventure riding and long-distance touring.
Extremely well-balanced and delivering impressive agility and handling, the 701 Enduro LR comes fitted with fully-adjustable 48 mm WP XPLOR upside-down forks and a WP XPLOR rear shock, offering 250 mm of wheel travel and excellent all-terrain capabilities.

Looks great and I’m sure it’s more than capable. However at that price I’d be more than a little hesitant to take it off road.
