GIVI announces accessory line for Suzuki V-Strom 1050

Aftermarket manufacturer GIVI is working on fresh new farkles for the Suzuki V-Strom 1050, but you’re going to have to wait for them. For now, much of the line is still in production.

It’s just one more example of how the coronavirus pandemic has hammered the moto-industry for 2020, as Europe’s manufacturers were mostly forced to close up shop over COVID-19 containment measures. Now that the pandemic is slowly receding in Europe, the aftermarket factories are back in business, and we’re seeing the new-for-2020 products roll out.

Based in Italy, GIVI would have been forced to close weeks back, and that’s probably why many of its parts aren’t available yet. Also, GIVI manufacturers official factory-purchased accessory bits as well, and no doubt the OEMs are all eager to see those orders filled first, before GIVI introduces its competing line.

So what’s GIVI pushing for the V-Strom 1050? Just what you’d expect: armour, luggage, a windshield, and lights. There’s a beefy-looking skid plate, designed to protect the lower, forward section of the 1050’s V-twin engine. GIVI is also manufacturing crash bars that protect the bike’s tank and engine top end, as well as new handguard options. The handguards appear to be finished production, but the crash bars and skid plate are still being built.

Same goes for the Strom’s luggage mounts, including back rack, pannier racks and tankbag mount. They’re all still in production; when completed, buyers can choose options that allow them to mount GIVI’s Monokey hard cases, as well as the more ADV-oriented Trekker Outback panniers.

GIVI is also working on a set of accessory light bars, a touring windshield, oversized sidestand foot, and some other bits. No word yet on when to expect these bits in Canada, but maybe we’ll see something by fall of 2020.
