2020 MotoGP Season Delayed (Again)

The start of the 2020 MotoGP season has once again been pushed back due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Originally scheduled for Sunday May 17th at the Le Mans Bugatti Grand Prix Race Circuit, the Shark Helmets Grand Prix de France makes the fifth round to be postponed.

The Formula One season also has yet to begin with two races cancelled and six more postponed. With the country’s postponement of the French MotoGP, the F1 race scheduled for June 28th at Le Castellet Circuit could also be in jeopardy.

The fate of the Italian MotoGP currently slated for May 31st doesn’t look promising either, as the country has extended its national lockdown. The next races on the calendar are at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya on June 7th then in Germany on June 21st and the Netherlands on June 28th.

The season was set to begin last month in Qatar. As the situation continued to escalate around the globe, additional rounds in Thailand, the United States, Argentina and Spain were all postponed by the FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclism) and MotoGP promoters.

The remainder of the 2020 schedule and number of races that will run this season remain unclear.
