Emissions documents are pointing to a new version of the Indian Scout Bobber coming soon, with a smaller engine.
Indian already has the Scout, which is a stripped-down roadster with an 1133 cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine. The Scout Bobber is derived from that—it’s basically a slightly modified version, with a solo seat and some more retro styling.
Indian also has the Scout Sixty, which is the same bike but with a 1000 cc V-twin engine, five-speed gearbox and other minor tweaks. It’s somewhat analogous to Harley-Davidson’s 883 cc and 1200 cc versions of the Sportster.
Now, Motorcycle.com has dug up some paperwork from the California Air Resources Board and the Environmental Protection Agency that indicates a similar version of the Scout Bobber, with downsized engine, is going to debut this year. Called the Scout Bobber Sixty, it will have the same engine as the Scout Sixty, presumably for the purpose of lowered insurance and easier licencing for beginners. Expect a slightly lower MSRP as well. As for looks, it will likely be practically indistinguishable from the standard Bobber model, pictured above.
The new Scout Bobber Sixty will likely be unveiled sometime around Daytona Bike Week, as there’s also a 2020 commemorative version of the machine being released, and it’s hard to see them waiting until the Sturgis rally to bring that to market.
