Problem: Issue: On certain motorcycles, the gear position switch may malfunction. This can cause the wrong gear to be indicated on the motorcycle’s display. As a result, the display could indicate that the motorcycle is in neutral, when it is actually in gear. If you do not follow safe starting procedures, the motorcycle could move suddenly during start-up.
Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and advise you to ensure that the motorcycle is in neutral before starting it. As an interim repair, you may take your motorcycle to a dealer to clean the gear position switch. Once the final repair is available, you will be sent a second notice and advised to take the motorcycle to a dealer to install a new switch.
