The Mv Agusta Superveloce 800 is here for 2020, after causing a stir due to questionable marketing last summer, with two versions: the standard Superveloce (above), and a Serie Oro version (below).
Whichever version you pick, it’s a kinda-sorta-neo retro, built around the three-cylinder F3 800 engine and frame that is the cornerstone of MV Agusta’s business. This time around, MV Agusta seems to have toned back the aggressive hype, with no nudie models in sight. They’ve also toned down the F3’s engine; although it’s still rated for 148 hp, it’s supposed to be more smooth. There are four power modes. If you pony up for the Serie Oro version, you get an extra five horsepower, probably partly due to the Arrow exhaust that comes fitted as stock.
There’s no IMU on the Superveloce models; they have safety electronics such as eight-level traction control, up/down quickshifter and adjustable engine braking, but no lean angle-sensitive ABS. Same goes for the traction control. At this point, it seems the Serie Oro shares the same electronics package as the standard model.
The Serie Oro version does get a load of carbon-fibre bodywork, cruise control, gold drive chain, GPS chip and some other geegaws that likely won’t change the owner’s actual riding experience one bit, but will give the owner something else to brag about.
