Szoke will race Australia’s International Challenge

Jordan Szoke, the winningest man in Canadian Superbike history, is headed to Australia this winter for the International Challenge.

In case you don’t know what the International Challenge is, it’s sort of a get-together for vintage racers on vintage race bikes, running at Phillip Island in the winter. It’s run on pre-1985 machines, with two-strokes or four-strokes allowed, up to 1,300 cc.

Of course, Jordan Szoke is still one of the fastest guys in CSBK, maybe even the fastest, but he’s old enough that he’d have seen the vintage machines that appear at the International Challenge around Canadian tracks, even though some of the bikes would technically be older than he is.

Szoke’s riding with a team loaded with heavy hitters. He’s with Mojo Yamaha, racing modified FJ1100 and TZ750 machines, complete with Curtis Racing Frames. The other riders include Josh Hayes, Larry Pegram, Michael Gilbert, Taylor Knapp, and Dave Crussell.

Szoke’s quote: “I am very honoured to race at such a prestigious racetrack. Pumped to be on the American Team with all the athletes I grew up racing with down in the US when my career was based south of the border.” So, in a way, Szoke’s headed back to battle with AMA counterparts again. Cool!
