Ducati has updated the Panigale 959 superbike. Now, it’s called the Panigale V2, and it’s supposed to look and feel more like the V4 flagship superbike.
The most immediately noticeable change is the bodywork, which has been updated to reflect V4 styling. There’s also a new single-sided swingarm. But underneath the new skin, there are plenty of changes.
The engine itself is slightly revised, now making a claimed 155 hp at 10,750 rpm and 77 lb-ft of torque at 9,000 rpm. Displacement is 955 cc. Valve adjustments are at intervals of 24,000 km, other engine servicing comes at 12,000 km intervals. The exhaust has been re-routed, with an upswept canister exit.
The Panigale V2 now has basically the same electronics package as the V4, with six-axis IMU that controls the ABS and presumable the traction control system as well. Both these systems are lean-angle sensitive now. (wheelie control, engine brake control and up/down quickshifter are also standard).
The Panigale V2 has Big Piston forks by Showa, with Sachs providing a fully-adjustable shock and steering damper. Brakes are Brembo M4.32 Monobloc calipers with 320 mm front discs.
Dry weight is a claimed 153 kg.
