Roadracing roundup: Alex Dumas grabs another championship

Alex Dumas has taken his second championship in MotoAmerica, clinching the Twins series on the weekend in Alabama.

Dumas ended up in third at the Barber race,  -0.821 seconds back after he received a one-second penalty for weaving. That was enough to put him atop his series for the second year in a row (last year he won the Junior Cup on an RC390). He ended the season with 198 points, and Drake Beauchamp, the closest challenger finished with 172 points.

While there’s been lots of conjecture as to Dumas’s next move, he’s made no announcement yet, so maybe he’ll return on the Suzuki SV650 next season again.

Darren James ended the race with a DNF, adding to his tally of tough luck this season.

Over in Supersport, Braeden Ortt finished 10th in Race 1 and 16th in Race 2, managing a finish after crashing the Yamaha.
