It’s that time of year when the manufacturers must start getting their emissions certifications lined up ahead of the fall show circuit. That means the moto-mags are getting sneak peeks at the 2020 lineup; this week, we see evidence of new machines from Ducati and Triumph.
According to MoreBikes, Ducati’s filed documents with the EPA that confirm two new Scrambler models are coming this fall. Both will be powered by Ducati’s 1079 cc L-twin engine; one’s called the Scrambler 1100 Sport, and is likely an evolution of the existing Sport model. The other is the Scrambler 1100 Sport Pro, and is expected to be some sort of hot-rodded version optimized for offroad performance, most likely with trick suspension and a beefed-up frame. Expect more details when the Ducati launch party hits in October.
As for Triumph, there have already been spy shots that indicate we’re going to see new machines in the Street Triple lineup, most likely updates of the existing bikes. Now, Motorcycle.com has dug up filings from the California Air Resource Board that show we can expect new Street Triple R and Street Triple RS models for 2019. It seems like they’ll be refinements of the existing 765 cc platform, optimized to reduce emissions. We’d expect more details on those machines by EICMA, at the latest.
