Triumph Rocket III to see lots of upgrades: Report

Triumph is thinking about building an electric motorcycle, Visordown suggests.

German moto-rag Motorrad is reporting next year’s Triumph Rocket III will see significant upgrades, including more horsepower and less weight.

That’s the same thing we saw with the TFC version of the Rocket III, although it won’t be as wild as that machine. The 2020 Triumph Rocket III is supposed to have 170 hp (up from 146 hp) and 162 lb-ft of torque. The three-cylinder engine is supposed to be bumped to 2,458 cc. Dry weight is supposed to be down to 290 kg, from 334 kg, thanks to new aluminum frame and single-sided swingarm.

Brakes are supposed to be from Brembo, and there’s a new ride-by-wire throttle which enables Triumph to pack in several other techno-goodies: traction control, four different ride modes, and a quickshifter. A TFT dash is also supposed to be standard.

Expect full details on the new Rocket III to come out on the show circuit later this year.
