The final Canadian Superbike races at St-Eustache saw a familiar face atop the Pro Superbike podium, as Jordan Szoke earned his first win since last July.
It’s been a tough few months for Szoke, as he cleaned up at the Shubenacadie double-header last summer, but ran into mechanical problems at the Mosport season closer. Ben Young beat him out at the Shannonville opener, and squeezed by him for a last-corner pass at Grand Bend. But going in this weekend, Szoke had the edge, as he hasn’t been beaten at St-Eustache in a long, long time, and he took the Superpole win to prove he still had it at this track.
The race between Young and Szoke was close again today, with Young’s best lap at the super-short St-Eustache track being 45.991, and Szoke’s being 46.022, both in the final lap. Szoke’s win was by a narrow 0.150 margin. Trevor Daley earned yet another podium, but further back (a 7.225 gap). Samuel Trepanier and Tomas Casas rounded out the top five.
Down in Pro Sport Bike, Casas proved he’s still the man to beat, leading the race from start to finish. Will Hornblower was second, Sebastien Tremblay was third. Although these results aren’t enough to put Casas back in front of the standings, it’s a bit of a help to him.
Amateur Sport Bike saw Christian Allard take the win, with rookie Jake LeClair in second aboard his BluCru Yamaha that he earned with the Lightweight series championship last year. LeClair is making the most of his shiny new R6 this season, for sure, as Allard’s win keeps him in the series lead, but LeClair is going to grab the front if Allard makes a mistake.
Amateur Superbike saw Guillaume Fortin win, with Pascal Bastien in second and Andrew Haick in third.
Alex Berthiaume won in Amateur Lightweight Sport Bike, with Ben LeClair in second and Keegan Gaudet in third.
