The final Mad Bastard Scooter Rally runs this weekend

Scooterman's ride attracted plenty of viewers on Friday night.

This weekend, the final Mad Bastard Scooter Rally will run through rural Ontario (Peterborough area), with the actual scooter route taking place Saturday (and maybe into the wee hours of Sunday).

Just like every other year, dozens of Vesparadoes and other scooter-borne loonies will don mad costumes and string together more than 500 km of back roads on a step-through, ranging from 49 cc all the way up to 650 cc. Naturally, the smaller the scooter, the more points you’ll get (full explanation of the points structure here).

If you want to see the mad scooters and crazed costumes, you can always head down to the Best Western Plus Otonabee tomorrow afternoon, or Sunday morning.

Alas, no  CMG scribes were able to make it to the MBSR this year, as they’re either all off on assignment, or recovering from road trips. Or, as in Zac’s case, stuck in New Brunswick, surrounded by moose. However, we’re there in spirit, because not only did CMG’s founding father Editor ‘Arris start the Mad Bastard rally, most of us (Dustin, Mark, Zac) have all ridden the rally at least once. Mark even won it one year.

For real-time updates of this weekend’s madness, keep an eye on the Mad Bastard Scooter Rally Facebook page, as we’re sure you’ll see lots of goofy fun uploaded over the length of the ride.
