Triumph has announced the performance figures for its new factory custom Rocket 3 TFC model.
The Rocket 3 has the largest engine of any production motorcycle, Triumph claims (see the initial write-up here), so everyone was expecting a decent gob of power—not the level of current-generation superbikes, but lots of jam. And Triumph has delivered, as the Rocket 3 is rated at 180 hp at 6,000 rpm, and 166 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. That’s actually very close to the wimpier litrebikes in current lineups.
Those numbers make the Rocket 3 the most powerful muscle cruiser on the market, as even the Ducati Diavel 1260 lags behind those figures, although it’s not a factory custom model. It also makes its power from an engine roughly half the size of the Rocket 3 TFC’s 2500 cc inline triple.
Triumph also trimmed a bunch of weight off the TFC model, getting down to a 290-kg dry weight. That’s still a big chunk of a motorcycle, but it’s 44 kg lighter than the previous generation.
If this all interests you in buying a Rocket 3 TFC, you’re out of luck, at least in North America. Only 750 machines were made for the entire global market, and the North American run has sold completely out already.
