This weekend, the Canadian Superbike series will visit St-Eustache for its final weekend of roadracing at that track.
Last spring, we told you Autodrome St-Eustache is preparing to close at the end of the 2019 season. This means CSBK is done at the track after this weekend, despite many years of racing there. So far, series organizers have not named a replacement track in Quebec, although many of the top racers in Canada are from the province.
It’s a standard schedule this weekend; the only doubleheader is in the Amateur Lightweight Sport Bike series, which sees the smaller machines racing both Saturday and Sunday. Tech inspections and registrations start Thursday, practice starts Friday, qualifying and Superpole run Saturday. The Pro Superbike, Pro Sport Bike, Amateur Superbike and Amateur Sport Bike events run Sunday.
Due to the multi-faceted nature of the St-Eustache facility, there’s also some drag racing going on this weekend, and stock cars are battling it out on the oval, if you’re into that sort of thing.
Going into this weekend, the favourite to win Pro Superbike still has to be Jordan Szoke. Szoke hasn’t won yet this season, but he’s proved absolutely dominant at St-Eustache for most of recent history. If he’s going to make a play to get back in the points lead, you’ll see it starting this weekend.
