After days of soggy weather that interfered with practice sessions last week, the Isle of Man TT is set to see actual racing start, beginning with today’s Superbike TT, Sidecar TT and Supersport races.
Sadly, there has already been one fatality this year, as Daley Mathison was killed in a crash in the Superbike TT event earlier today. Mathison was riding for the Penz13.com team, aboard a BMW S1000RR. He was 27 years old, and had been racing the Mountain Course since 2013. Mathison had earned podiums in the TT Zero event in  2016, 2017 and 2018, riding for Nottingham University. He had 19 TT starts and 14 finishes over his career, and had finished top-20 in Superstock and Senior TT events in the past.
CMG wishes to express its sympathies to Mathison’s family and team at this difficult time.
Peter Hickman won today’s Superbike TT event, which was red-flagged after the crash, and the results as of Lap 2 were declared the official order. Dean Harrison was second, Conor Cummins was third. John McGuinness ended up retiring due to mechanical problems with the Norton superbike after the first lap.
Ben and Tom Birchall have won the first Sidecar TT race, with a 119.13 mph lap (!!).
