Check out these Canadian motorcycle rallies this summer

CMG’s big boss Dustin Woods sports his best attire at the 2017 MBSR. Word has it that he won the outfit in an arm-wrestling competition with James Bond.

Mad Bastard Scooter Rally

Southern Ontario, June 21-23

How many scooter rallies in North America? Not many. How many ask you to ride 600 km in 24 hours while wearing a costume? None, that we know of, except for the Mad Bastard Rally, which runs every couple of years around eastern Ontario. The location changes every time, but not the idea: have maniacal fun on a step-through, preferably a 50 cc, because that’s worth more points!

The MBSR was founded by CMG’s former Big Cheese, Editor ‘Arris, and Kymco was the longtime sponsor. He sold the rally to BECO Motors a while back, but now, since they’re no longer the Canadian importer for Kymco, they’ve said the 2019 rally will be the last. That. Really. Sucks.

However, this year’s rally should still be a real gas, especially as there’s extra interest, now that everyone knows it’s the last go-round. Interested? Here’s what you need to know: the rally has different classes for different sized scooters; bigger scooters earn fewer points, and have less time to complete the course. The organizers has also allowed small-capacity motorcycles in the past, but the website says they have to be approved.

  1. Me and my cousins go to the Atlanticade Rally in Moncton, NB. held the third week of june. Great folks running it, well organized and they break up large group rides into smaller groups of 25, which is safer and gives you a chance to get to know the folks your riding with. Don’t miss it.

  2. Is this a printed magazine or just on line?? Reason I ask is my wife and 6 of her friends are on the cover and would love to get them a copy for a keep sake.

  3. There *IS* a Horizons Unlimited Mountain Madness (HUMM) in Canada (BC) this year!! HUMM Monashees, July 19-21, 2019, also in Nakusp, BC… the weekend after the Canwest Travellers Meeting, so may as well make a family holiday of it. The dual sport and off-road riding in the area is stellar.
