Pirelli now offers Superbike slicks for small bikes

Want more proof of the industry’s shift to 300-400 cc sportbikes? Tire manufacturer Pirelli is now offering Diablo Superbike slicks for small-displacement motorcycles.

These long-popular racing tires will now be available in North America in the  110/70-17 front and 140/70-17 rear sizes, made from Pirelli’s midrange SC1 compound. The front is supposed to have improved grip and handling on existing offerings. The new rear is supposed to feel the same as the Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa, which is already on the market in that size, and used in small-displacement series like World Supersport 300.

Of course, this does little for racers in Canadian Superbike’s Amateur Lightweight Sport Bike series, as the site says “All competitors will compete with spec Dunlop tires, as do all competitors on the Mopar CSBK tour.” However, if you’re taking your Yamaha R3 or Ninja 400 to track days, it’s worth knowing.

  1. Dunlop also offers slicks in this same size range FYI.
In stock with the Canadian Dunlop race tire supplier in Toronto, Pro 6 Cycle Inc. We received our shipment last week.
CSBK racers, staff, and Pro 6 staff voted and decided to stick with the Q3+ for the 2019 season as it proves much more cost effective for entry level, budget friendly racing, which is the goal for the lightweight class at CSBK.
We will be carrying the 110/140 slick as a regular stock item available at all our trackdays and regional series across the country.
