Triumph has announced a pair of “Inspiration Kits” for its recently-launched Scrambler 1200 line, allowing customers to tweak their rides with factory custom parts.
Launched in October, the Scrambler 1200 XC and Scrambler 1200 XE apply Triumph’s well-established scrambler formula to the T120 parallel twin platform. These bikes are a bit more offroad-worthy than the T100-based Street Scrambler, and the parallel twin has been re-worked a bit. Output is said to be 89 hp at 7,400 rpm and 81 ft-lb of torque at 3,950 rpm, which is a bit more power than the standard T120 models.
While the XC and XE already have different roles (the XC is more of a road bike, the XE is more high-spec, with leaning ABS and riding modes and long-travel suspension), the “Inspiration Kits” (read: a collection of bolt-on factory accessories) make further specialization much easier. For now, Triumph has announced two kits, the Escape Inspiration Kit and the Extreme Inspiration Kit.
The Escape Inspiration Kit seems to be aimed at the touring enthusiast, with LED fog lights, a centrestand, a flyscreen, panniers and a grab handle—all stuff that makes sense on the open road, but just weighs you down when you’re offroading.
For dirty-minded Scrambler owners, Triumph put together the Extreme Inspiration Kit, which has a high front fender, a carbon-fibre muffler (Euro4-legal), aluminum rad guard, a handlebar brace, LED indicators, headlight guard, a kickstand extension and some other small machined bits to protect various fragile parts on the bike. Obviously, if you’re off-roading, you’d be more interested in some of these parts.
In total, Triumph says it will offer more than 80 accessories for these bikes. As for pricing, well, Triumph is supposed to announce the Canadian MSRP for these models tomorrow, but digging up the price tags on the accessories might take longer. Spoiler alert: we can guarantee you they’ll command a premium price.
