Although the R1250 GS is BMW’s flagship adventure bike, the mid-sized 800 lineup has been an extremely popular alternative ever since it was introduced, as it still has plenty of horsepower to get the job done, and is a bit easier to manage offroad.
So, it totally made sense for BMW add the ruggedized Adventure version of its F850 GS to the lineup this fall. It’s mostly the same machine, but has the special bits you want for heading into the wild stuff: bigger fuel tank, adjustable levers, crash bars, wider enduro-style footpegs, stainless steel luggage rack, and so on. Of course, the F850 engine is in itself a major upgrade over the previous F800, with more power and less vibration.
