Yamaha R3 upgraded for 2019

Yamaha’s R3 sportbike has been upgraded for 2019, getting several tweaks, but retaining the same frame and motor.

The Yamaha R3 gets updated bodywork, looking much more like the R1 superbike, with twin LED headlights, taller windscreen, re-designed fuel tank, and a reduction in wind resistance and offering ram air functionality.  The front fender is new as well. The result is a top speed increase, says Yamaha.

There’s also a new 37 mm inverted front fork, courtesy of KYB, paired with a new aluminum triple clamp. The handlebars now sit 22 mm lower as well, so handling will be different thanks to all these changes.

The handlebar switchgear is also new for 2019, and there’s a new LCD dash.

The 2019 Yamaha R3 will be available in blue, black or white paint schemes, and has a $6,299 MSRP in Canada next year.

  1. Nice to see the R3 updated although the price is up. Still very reasonable given there is no longer a surcharge for colour choice or ABS.
