For now, details are limited, but we understand Yamaha has gone ahead and built a sport touring machine based on its MT-07 platform.
Dubbed the Yamaha Tracer 700GT, the machine fills a niche that manufacturers have long forgotten—the middleweight sport tourer. It’s similar to the Tracer 900GT, but instead of the inline triple, it’s powered by the same 689 cc parallel twin that previously starred in the MT-07 and XSR700.
The Tracer 700GT will come with an improved seat for touring, a 17-litre fuel tank, a higher touring windscreen, and 20-litre sidebags. It all sounds good to us; we’ll share more details when they’re released!

Please bring it too Canada with its heated seat and grips….
I know this is old news but is there any word yet on whether or not this bike will come to Canada?
Its not on the Yamaha Canada website, I guess they’re too busy with Niken GTs.
Hope it comes! I want a smaller bike my girlfriend could ride too. We rented a MT-07 and I really liked the engine and I’ve been riding bikes for more than 30 years. A Tracer GT would be just perfect!
But will it come to Canada?
I’d be surprised if it didn’t.
