EPA documents tip upcoming BMW F850 GS Adventure

When BMW introduced the new F850  and F700 GS parallel twin platform at EICMA last fall (introduction here, review here), everyone knew it was only a matter of time until the Adventure version was released.

Now, thanks to documents dug up by Motorcycle.com, we know the Adventure version is coming for 2019. Paperwork filed with the US’s Environmental Protection Agency indicates the ruggedized version of the bike will be sold next year.

There’s not much other information, aside from a horsepower rating of 88.5 hp at 8000 rpm. But from past Adventure releases in the GS lineup, we’d expect to see a bigger gas tank, a rugged 21-18 front-rear wheel combo, aluminum panniers, dirt-friendly engine modes, an offroad seat option, and other touches to make the bike more competent off-tarmac. There’ll likely be some sort of suspension upgrade available as well. And, the cost will be higher. Keep your eyes open starting in September; we’d expect to see this machine released on this fall’s show circuit.
