Brokentooth to Receive Eddy Award at Spring Motorcycle Show in Toronto

Canada Moto Guide is delighted to announce we’ve selected Oliver “Brokentooth” Solaro to be our pick for the 2018 Spring Motorcycle Show Eddy Awards.

The Eddy Awards are given to a “motorcyclist who a publication covered in 2017, who accomplished something important to motorcycling or deserving of recognition, and who personifies what your publication is all about. It could also be a club or organization, a custom shop, race team, or any other entity.”

Editor Mark Richardson nominated Oliver “Brokentooth” Solaro for the award because, “Oliver has proven himself to be an adventurous and inquisitive motorcyclist in all weathers, and he’s also surely certifiably nuts: he rode his KLR 650 on the ice roads of northern Ontario for the documentary AKA Brokentooth, and he wears a kilt.

“That’s very CMG.”

This month – yes, in March – Solaro rode a CCM GP450 adventure bike, equipped with a track kit and homemade sledge, over the snow to Churchill, Manitoba, on the shore of Hudson Bay, hauling a load of dog food behind him. He made several runs to bring the supplies to the town. We’ll be telling you all about this adventure later this week.

Other nominees are Alanticade, nominated by Motorcycle Mojo; JD Guignard, nominated by Fast Times magazine; and Classy Chassis & Cycles, nominated by Rider’s Mag. They’re joined in the Eddy class of 2018 by CVMG News’s nominee Phil Goldsmith and by John McBride, who was nominated by GTAMotorcycle.ca.

The Editors’ Choice Awards will be presented at the Spring Motorcycle Show, on Saturday, April 7, at the Toronto International Centre with Pat Gonsalves as Master of Ceremonies.

    • Mike, I do indeed. After Michelle tried to change my mind with a truly exhaustive list of alternates she finally caved and let me go with my first choice.

Hence forth his name shall be Bruce Springsteen.
