OPP officer who lost leg in motorcycle training crash returns to patrol

Some Ontario-based readers might remember the headlines back in 2014, when OPP constable Peter Tucker suffered a tragic accident on duty, losing his left leg in a motorcycle training accident.

Tucker was training as part of a VIP protection unit, riding at 130 km/h, when a goose flew in front of him. He hit the bird, crashed, and almost died as a result of his injuries.

Now, thanks to a new high-tech prosthetic and a lot of mental toughness, Peter Tucker is back on the job—not as a desk jockey, but as a patrolman. There’s a great write-up on his return to duty in the Hamilton Spectator this week, and we suggest you head there to read the rest of the story.
