Suzuki recall

Recall #: 2018055
Models Involved: 2017 GSX-R1000, GSX-R1000R
Number of Vehicles:
 206
Problem: On certain motorcycles, when upshifting between first and second gear, if the rider fails to engage second gear, a neutral condition will exist and continued opening of the throttle will cause very high engine RPM. If the rider then shifts into second gear without disengaging the clutch under the very high engine RPM condition, an excessive load can be applied to the powertrain, which can cause the drive chain to stretch and potentially come off or break.
Correction: Dealer will replace the Engine Control Module (ECM) with a reprogrammed unit and perform drive chain inspection. Based on the results of the drive chain inspection, replace the drive chain and sprocket, if necessary.

  1. What the heck? My 1998 BMW R1100RT has been giving me false neutrals for years. If I keep the throttle pinned, slap it into second, and trash the transmission does that mean I can trigger a recall ???
