KTM confirms 790 Duke for North America as 2019 model

Following yesterday’s reveal of the Duke 790, KTM has confirmed it’s coming to North America.

However, instead of making a big flap about it, KTM actually wants us to get excited about the 1290 Super Adventure S (see press release below). That bike didn’t make it here for 2017, but will be here next year.

As for the 790 Duke, it’s arriving as a 2019 model, and we wouldn’t expect to see it in showrooms before next summer at the earliest.

FOLLOWING EXCITEMENT AT EICMA, KTM ANNOUNCES 2018 STREET MODEL LINEUP FOR NORTH AMERICAN MARKET

MURRIETA, Calif. – Exciting news came today from the EICMA tradeshow in Milan, Italy as KTM unveiled its all-new, production-ready (EU) KTM 790 DUKE, along with a KTM 790 ADVENTURE R prototype, cuing up how the Austrian brand’s model lineup will further expand thanks to a completely new engine generation with its 799cc LC8c parallel twin powerplant. In conjunction with this news, KTM North America, Inc. is pleased to announce its 2018 model lineup for the North American market, which is set to debut in the U.S. at the Long Beach International Motorcycle Show (IMS) on Nov. 17.

Highlighting the North American model lineup for 2018 is the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S, which is new model for the North American market. Additionally, the 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R and the 1090 ADVENTURE R will return to the lineup, along with the 1290 SUPER DUKE R, 690 DUKE, 390 DUKE, 690 ENDURO R and RC 390. Furthermore, the highly-anticipated KTM 790 DUKE – ‘The Scalpel’ – is set to make its North American debut as a 2019 model.

President of KTM North America, Inc., John Hinz: “We’re looking forward to welcoming the KTM 790 DUKE to the North American market in early fall of 2018 as the very first street model for 2019. The new engine generation with the 799cc LC8c parallel twin powerplant is very important for our market and our consumers, we’re very excited for the future.“

  1. What a shame the 790 Duke is a ’19 model. They are getting it in Europe this coming March.Oh well, I can take that off the shopping list.

  2. Any idea of Canadian pricing for the 1290 Adventure S?

    Glad the GT isn’t actually gone from our market, but it would be nice if you could put a centre stand and top box on it, hint hint KTM!

  3. Good, but the one I’d be most likely to buy would be the 1090 Adventure (no R), but that one is not on the list.

    Neither is the Super Duke GT by the way and it is no longer on KTM Canada site.

    • For the Super Duke GT, it seems like the website refresh is a work-in-progress, and that sub-page hasn’t been made accessible from the menu for some reason. If you navigate to the page for the Super Duke R, and replace the “-r” in the URL with “-gt-“, it’ll take you to the listing page for the Super Duke GT (up to date, in the same format and appearance as all the other pages).

      No such luck with the 1090 Adventure, though.
