Yamaha’s R1 and R1M superbikes are both getting updates for 2018.
Both bikes are getting an improved up/down quickshifter. The ECU had to be updated for this upgrade, and Yamaha also tweaked the wheelie control at that time.
The R1M is also getting the Smart EC 2 ERS suspension system from Ohlins, which uses a six-axis inertial measurement unit to make on-the-fly suspension adjustments, keeping the Yamaha’s tires planted in all riding conditions.
The Yamaha Canada website doesn’t make any mention of these upgrades, so it may be a while before we see them work their way to our market.
