Yamaha updates FZ lineup

As part of its 2018 update of the FZ lineup, the FZ-07 has been renamed the MT-07, and gotten a facelift as well.

The FZ-09 is now the MT-09 in Canada, and the FZ gets the MT label as well. But while the 900-class triple just got a new label, the 700-class parallel twin has a few tweaks in next year’s model.

As far as we can tell from Yamaha’s website, the changes are all superficial, meant to bring the bike’s styling closer to its big brother. Yamaha Canada says the machine has a new headlight, new front fender, revised air scoops, new taillight and tail section, and new paint choices.

According to the spec sheet on the Canadian site, wet weight is up 3 kg from last year’s 180 kg curb weight. Max torque is unchanged, so we’d assume no engine changes, and we’d guess chassis changes are minimal as well. The base model’s price tag has risen $800, to $8,299.

For the full spec sheet, which looks pretty much like last year’s numbers, see here.
