Rossi breaks leg, will miss Misano

Yamaha factory MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi has broken his leg, and will miss the upcoming Misano race.

Rossi fractured his tibia and fibula in what MotoGP is calling an “enduro accident” last week. He underwent surgery to get everything tacked together with a pin, but he will not be recovered in time to race this weekend’s event in Misano.

That’s got to hurt, both literally and figuratively. Rossi usually performs well at Misano, and as it’s his home race, he’s a huge crowd favourite there.

Yamaha will not be replacing Rossi at the race, says team management.

Before this happened, Rossi was in a position to challenge for his 10th MotoGP title, as he’s sitting in fourth with 157 points. That’s not far from first-place Andrea Dovizioso, who has 183 points.
