Stuntwoman killed in crash on Vancouver movie set

A stuntwoman has been killed in a crash on the set of the second Deadpool movie.

The incident happened in Vancouver yesterday. The rider was Joi Harris, a.k.a. “SJ.” She had a history in roadracing, but this was supposedly her first movie as a professional stunt worker. Harris claimed to be the first African-American woman to race in an AMA-sanctioned event.

Eyewitness reports indicate Harris crashed into a building while performing a stunt for the film, doubling for actress Zazie Beetz. Harris was not wearing a helmet for the stunt, as her character wasn’t supposed to be wearing one in the film.

WorkSafeBC is investigating the incident.

CMG’s thoughts and sympathies go out to her friends, family and co-workers at this tragic time.
