OPP seeking public help with motorcycle mob

The Ontario Provincial Police is seeking help from the public after a large group of riders ran amok on the province’s highways on the weekend.

The motorcycle mob hit major routes in southern Ontario, including the Gardiner Expressway, Don Valley Parkway, the 409, 401 and 403, and Queen Elizabeth Way on Sunday afternoon. Reports say there was plenty of illegal stunting down the roadways, with traffic blocked as riders did wheelies, burnouts and general hoonery.

Needless to say, the straight-laced populace of the GTA is not impressed, with police receiving multiple complaints. The OPP didn’t shut the ride down, but supposedly followed along with a helicopter and took down plate numbers. There are reports that participating riders have been receiving police visits in the past few days, but we haven’t seen anything that we can confirm.

The OPP issued a public call for assistance in resolving the incident, with their Twitter feed saying “The actions of these riders jeopardized the safety of all road users by increasing the risk of collisions, as well as frustrating drivers which may lead to road rage incidents.”

The OPP’s official Twitter feed has video of one of the incidents, if you care to see it. They’re asking for help identifying the riders.

It’s taking a while for motorcycle mobs to become a thing in Canada, but it’s happening. There were some very high-profile incidents in the GTA last year that ended with serious police charges and motorcycles in flaming wreckage. The summer is almost over, but unless there’s an immediate, heavy police crackdown, we’re guessing this won’t be the last of it here. Labour Day weekend is just around the corner …

  1. “You f*cking clowns and all of your moaning are f*cking pathetic.
A bunch of tossers hurting no one. But you clowns all wish the black ‘copters and idiot high-school leaver steroid freak cops to rain terror down upon the participants.
Ever been to Parry Sound and the Thunder Run? Take a Midol and STFU, clown. Canada has greater problems than this.”

Don’t hold back, tell us how you really feel.
Traffic disruptions hurt no one – how about the reputation of the general motorcycling community ?
Canada may indeed have greater problems, but this is a motorcycle forum so these kinds of things are discussed.
Please feel free to enlighten us as to the positive benefits of such activities, I’m all ears….

  2. That’s why I won’t buy a super sport bike even though I’d love one. I want no association with these meathead douchebags. They’re ruining it for others who love to ride.

  3. This won’t end well, if they keep this shit up.
Someone will take exception with they morons blocking the road, the morons will take exception to being challenged, and someone will end up getting flattened. It won’t be someone in a car or truck, likely. And I won’t shed any tears for said moron.

    • Why is this so complicated for the Police? Visit the local hangout and write lots of tickets for the twits who have folding license plates! (And if there isn’t a law for this… MAKE ONE FFS!)

    • That’s just brilliant, Inesteen. So, Jimmy-Luigi Plod saunters through the local Tim’s, and discovers “folding” license plates how?
And, all of you redneck idiots wish to give super powers to cops who shoot an idiot kid with a pen knife on an empty street car nine times.
      Then six more.
      Then taser him.
Then proceed to, in full view of the obvious cameras, kick away the evidence and lie in their note books.
      Then lie in court.
