Sport Rider magazine, one of the many two-wheeled titles in the Bonnier fold, has ceased publication.
Although less popular in Canada, and arguably harder to get your hands on here than an equivalent British mag, Sport Bike was a long-standing North American mag with an emphasis on two-wheelers of the sporting variety. Bonnier picked it up during an acquisition rampage a few years back, when publisher Source InterLink sold off a bunch of titles.
Supposedly, the move is part of some restructuring in Bonnier’s motorcycle publications, which we’ve already seen the first plays in, when Motorcyclist went to a six-issue annual publication schedule earlier this year.
There’s no official word as to the fate of Sport Rider’s staff. It’s likely not good news for them, though, or for the motorcycle magazine industry in general. No doubt some onlookers are wondering if there are more axes to fall on Bonnier’s other less-popular titles, or low-volume mags from other publishers.
